Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Roger Eugene Hudson, Jr., age 57, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Roger "Chip" Hudson was born November 2, 1956 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Roger E. Hudson, Sr. and Jean Johnson Hudson. He was raised in Hastings, Iowa and graduated from Nishna Valley High School in 1974. He worked in Insurance Sales and for D & L Company before venturing out in business for himself. Chip was united in marriage to Ginger Kraft in Emerson, Iowa and three children were born to this union: Sonny, Miranda, and Cody. Over the years Chip ran Hudson Construction, The Office Lounge Bar, Emerson Kwik Shop, and Hudson Sanitation Services but had to retire in 2001 due to health reasons. Chip loved to have fun with family and friends, loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed good food. Preceding him in death were his father: Roger E. Hudson, Sr.; and brothers: Brian Keith Hudson and Cary Lee Hudson. Survivors include his children: Sonny Hudson of Emerson, IA; Miranda Wade and husband Matt of Council Bluffs, IA; Cody Hudson of Emerson, IA; and Benji Maxell and wife Kelsey of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Preston Wade, Isabell Hudson, and Addy and Lily Maxell; mother: Jean Hudson of Hastings, IA; sister: Vel Jean Edie and husband David of Red Oak, IA; brothers: Gary Lee Hudson of Red Oak, IA and Mick Hudson of Hastings, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Hastings United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Hastings, IA Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
