Birthplace: Friend, NE Resided In: Red Oak, IA Rogene Ann Gustafson, age 73, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 on the family farm near Red Oak. Rogene was born September 19, 1942 in Friend, Nebraska the daughter of Milton and Anna (Wanek) LaCour. She graduated from Wales Lincoln High School in rural Montgomery County, Iowa with the class of 1960 and attended technical school in Omaha, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Ted Gustafson and two children were born of this union: Rick and Jodi. They lived many different places before settling back in Red Oak in 1977. Rogene worked many years at Gold Crown Inn and retired from CDS Global. She was a long time member of Business and Professional Women and Order of Eastern Star. She also sold Avon for many years, was an avid reader, enjoyed working on crafts, and loved traveling with her daughter, Jodi. Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her children: Rick Gustafson and significant other Deb Sands of Red Oak and Jodi Simmons and husband David of Pflugerville, TX; grandchildren: Chris Schofield of Ft. Dodge, IA; Cassandra Schofield of Omaha, NE; Jameson Sands of Council Bluffs, IA; Jonathan Sands of Oklahoma City, OK; and Megan Sands of Red Oak and other relatives and many friends. Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association or the Red Oak Public Library. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
