Birthplace: Rural Red Oak, IA Resided In: Rural Red Oak, IA Robert George Wookey, age 90, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Robert was born May 19, 1923 on the family farm in Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Henry and Anna (Heuer) Wookey. He attended rural schools in West Township and began farming at a young age. Robert was united in marriage to Deloris "Eileen" Raymond on July 2, 1944 in Troy, Kansas. They farmed all of their lives in Montgomery County on the Wookey family farm and were members of the Hawthorne United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Eileen on October 31, 2007; an infant sister; and brothers: Adrian and Gordon. Survivors include his daughter: Carol Huff and husband Jerry of Emerson, IA; son: Dennis Wookey and wife Linda of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Bryan Huff and wife Lisa of Emerson, IA; Brent Huff of Red Oak, IA; Bruce Huff and wife Misti of Taylorsville, NC; Jake Wookey and wife Mindy of Red Oak, IA; and Jenny Rich and husband Joe of West Des Moines, IA; great grandchildren: Jordan Huff of Red Oak, IA; Brittany Huff of Cedar Rapids, IA; Logan Huff of Red Oak, IA; Madison and Rylee Huff of Treynor, IA; Gage Huff of Red Oak, IA; Alexis, Sloan, and Wyatt Huff of Taylorsville, NC; Madison, Mallorie, and Jonan Wookey of Red Oak, IA; and Cory and Jeff Rich of West Des Moines, IA; sisters-in-law: Gwen Peterson of Red Oak, IA and Faye Wookey of Emerson, IA; brother-in-law: Duane Raymond and wife Joanne of Jefferson, OR; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, January 27, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go to the cemetery in procession. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Hawthorne United Methodist Church or the Red Oak Rescue Unit. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
