Birthplace: College Springs, IA Resided In: Lamar, MO Robert Paul Nelson, age 81, of Lamar, Missouri passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri following a lengthy illness. Robert was born January 12, 1935 in College Springs, Iowa the son of Paul and Monterey Nelson. He graduated from the Clearmont, Missouri high school and proudly served his country for six years in the Army National Guard. A member of the Teamsters Union, Bob was an over-the-road truck driver, working for various trucking firms for nearly 40 years. He was a quiet man who loved to read, enjoyed outdoor activities, especially water skiing, time spent on the lake, or traveling the country on his Harley-Davidson. On April 27, 1975, at Lamar, Missouri, Bob was united in marriage to Sharon Moore who survives him. Also surviving are his sons: James Nelson of Los Alamos, NM and Justin Nelson of Lamar, MO; brother: William Nelson of Red Oak, IA; sisters: Jeanette Lawson of Red Oak, IA and Dee Anna Haack of Council Bluffs, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother: Ronald Nelson and wife Mary; sisters-in-law: Jeanette Hites and husband Leo and Janice Lehman and husband Bob. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the Salvation Army. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
