Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Robert E. Huntsman, Sr., age 81, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Robert Eugene "Bob" Huntsman, Sr. was born May 13, 1931 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Theodore and Vera (Peterson) Huntsman. He attended school in Emerson, Iowa. Bob was united in marriage to Jeanette Simpson on March 15, 1952 in Hiawatha, Kansas. He lived most of his life in Emerson, except for one year in Tenville working in the family business and one year in Corning working as a farm hand. Bob also worked for Boughs Motors as a mechanic and as a painter/paper hanger in business with his father. Bob started at the Emerson Cemetery and later became Sexton, a job he did until the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching basketball and football, watching car races, and took great pleasure in watching his son, Bob, and grandson, Andy, race. He truly treasured his family and watching all the kids play in sporting events at Nishna Valley School, the home of his favorite team, the Black Hawks. He also helped Jeanette with her blue bird houses and trail and became quite a fan of the blue birds too. Bob was a longtime faithful member of the Emerson Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: Survivors include his wife: Jeanette Huntsman of Emerson, IA; children and grandchildren: Robert E. Huntsman, Jr and wife Pam of Emerson, IA and their children: Kilee and husband Danny Docker of Red Oak, IA, Ben Huntsman of Red Oak, IA, and Lindsey Huntsman of Emerson, IA; Karen Gage and husband Mitch of Emerson, IA and their children: Andy Gage and wife Heidi of Whiting, IA and children: Jordan, Gavin, and Jonathan; and Brandi Miller and husband Bill of Onawa, IA and children: Hannah, Marcus, and Allyson; and Suzette Smith and husband Jens of Emerson, IA and their children: Jenna Geist and husband Scott and children: Kayla and Rylan; and Nathan Smith and wife Mandy of Mineola, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Emerson Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Emerson Baptist Church, Emerson Library, or the Emerson/Malvern Rescue Unit. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
