Birthplace: Manhattan, KS Resided In: Red Oak, IA formerly Ft. Myers, FL Robert Lee Craig Sr., age 94, formerly of Ft. Myers, Florida passed away of natural causes Wednesday morning, September 7, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society of Red Oak, Iowa. Robert Lee Craig Sr. was born may 16, 1922 in Manhattan, Kansas the son of Lee Hugh and Iva Rosalie Craig. Robert was preceded in death by 3 wives: Mary, Mae Ellen, and Beverly Ann Craig and one daughter: Mary Jean Craig. Robert is survived by one sister: Marian; 3 sons: Robert Lee Craig Jr. of North Carolina, Ivan Craig of Red Oak, Iowa, and David Craig of Louisiana; and 4 daughters: Celeste Fayad of Miami, Florida; Kristina Morris of Massillon, Ohio; Rebecca Jandik of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Patricia Thomas of Red Oak, Iowa; 21 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Robert was a veteran of World War II where he served his country as an Army Pilot. Robert also served in the Army Reserves for a number of years after the war. He was very fond of flying continuing to do so until age would no longer allow him. Robert's second love was farming, which he did very successfully until he relocated to Florida where he began his 3rd career as a real estate agent and assessor. Robert worked as long as his health allowed. He came back to Iowa with his daughter Patricia in 2012. Robert resided at Good Samaritan Society of Red Oak from 2012 until his passing. Robert was a member of numerous civic organizations wherever he resided. He was a warm people person and enjoyed serving others as possible. Memorial services will be held 5 PM Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Faith Community Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family of Robert Craig, c/o Ivan Craig, 1211 Boundary, Red Oak, IA 51566. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel assisted the family with cremation services.
