Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Rita Ploghoft, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 13, 2003 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Rita Elinor Ploghoft was born April 8, 1920 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Alfred and Selma (Lendgren) Nelson. She was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1937. Rita was united in marriage to Richard Ploghoft on October 9, 1940 in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived all of their lives in Red Oak. Over the years Rita worked as a secretary, drew blue prints for Erwin Construction, worked for Lavon Billings, and worked for ten years as a deputy to the Clerk of Court. She enjoyed the Evening Sewing Club and the Thursday Coffee Club. Rita was an avid reader and enjoyed writing poetry. She had two poetry books printed. She was proud of her clown and pitcher collections. Rita had fond memories of her trip to Sweden with her sister, where they traveled to meet their cousins and relatives of their parents. Rita was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Richard Ploghoft on August 27, 1996; sister: Ruth Erwin; and brother: Vernon Nelson. Survivors include her 2 daughters: Connie Wise and her husband Fred of Osceola, Iowa; and Susan Limbacher and Tom Woodin of Farragut, Iowa; son: Rick Ploghoft of Fort Collins, Colorado; daughter-in-law: Micky Ploghoft of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren: Justin Wise and his wife Lynelle of Des Moines, Iowa; Andrew Wise of Warrensburg, Missouri; Daniel Wise of Osceola, Iowa; Erika Limbacher of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Maggie Langley and her husband Chris of London, England; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Claude Westerfield officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Rescue Unit. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
