Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Richard Shearer, age 38, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, June 15, 2001 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. Richard Lee "Dick" Shearer was born May 6, 1963 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Robert and Jane (Sheets) Shearer. Richard lived all of his life in Montgomery County, Iowa. He attended school and graduated from the Griswold High School in 1981 and was currently working for the Red Oak Greenhouse as a Supervisor and Grower. He was also a member of the Stratton United Methodist Church. Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents; and a son: Travis Ryan Shearer on December 27, 1988. Survivors include his son: Tyler Shearer of Red Oak, Iowa; parents: Robert and Jane Shearer of Elliott, Iowa; 5 brothers: Rob Shearer and his wife Michelle of Emerson, Iowa; Bill Shearer and his special friend Cathy of Red Oak, Iowa; Russ Shearer and his wife Monica of Red Oak, Iowa; Steve Shearer of Emerson, Iowa; and Jeff Shearer of Elliott, Iowa; sister: Julie Daugherty and her husband David of Little Sioux, Iowa; good friend: Lori Shearer of Red Oak, Iowa; 4 nieces, 3 nephews; and 1 great niece; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chris Burgett officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, June 18, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
