Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Richard Leland Shaver, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society. Richard was born December 12, 1933 in Red Oak, Iowa. He lived all of his life in Red Oak. Richard served in the United States Marines from 1953-1955. He was united in marriage to Juanita Helton on October 20, 1955. Over the years, Richard worked at Star Agri, Red Oak Greenhouse, a beer distributor, and the Union Carbide doing janitorial work. He owned and operated Hanky Panky Bar for many years. Richard always loved camping, fishing, working on cars, and spending time with family and good friends. For the past 15 years Dick has made his home at the Good Samaritan Society in Red Oak. Preceding him in death were his father: Ralph Shaver; his mother: Vella Cornelison Lawson; wife: Juanita on December 6, 1997; sons: Terry Shaver on October 23, 2009 and Rick Shaver on December 13, 2009; grandsons: Fabian and Brent Shaver; granddaughter: Chrystal Johnson; brother: Bob Shaver; sister: Betty McCoy; and half-sister: Donna Young. Survivors include his children: Chris Norris and husband Mike; Patsy Williams; Tammy Cerven; Wendi Latus and husband Rob; Jerry Shaver and wife Judy; and Tim Shaver all of Red Oak; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; nephew: Bob McCoy and wife Marcia of Broken Arrow, OK; half-brother: Ron Lawson and wife Rosie of Tennessee; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
