Richard Bryan "Rick" Jenkins, age 52, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023. Rick was born August 10, 1970, the son of Darry and Susan (Cary) Jenkins. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. Rick attended Red Oak Community Schools graduating in the class of 1989. He was a stand-out athlete, lettering in 3 sports: baseball, football, and wrestling, qualifying for the state wrestling tournament. He also participated in FFA and 4H. Rick was a trained electrical lineman and a journeyman tree trimmer, working for Asplundh Co. for over 10 years. Rick most recently was employed by the Red Oak Greenhouse in the maintenance department. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, his family, and of course, the Dallas Cowboys. Rick was a proud and loving father to his daughters.

Preceding him in death were his father: Darry Jenkins; grandparents: Harold and Eleanor Jenkins of the Wales area and Joe and Dorothy Cary of Red Oak. Survivors include his mother: Sue Jenkins; daughters: Ashley Valentine and her mother Toni; and Chloey Adams-Ritzman and Olivia Jenkins and their mother Lisa Adams Jenkins; sisters: Lori (Joe) Bullivant; Lisa Jenkins; and Marla Jenkins and fiancé, Mike Wallace; nieces: Madeline and Elena Bullivant; and many friends and family that will mourn his passing, but be forever grateful for having known him.

A celebration of life service will be held 1 PM Monday, July 3, 2023, at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at a later date at the Gomer Cemetery near Wales, Iowa. Viewing and visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
