Birthplace: Des Moines, Iowa Resided In: Long Grove, Iowa formerly Omaha, Nebraska and Red Rebecca Louise "Becky" Armknecht, age 57, of Long Grove, Iowa formerly of Omaha, Nebraska passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Becky was born July 30, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Philip and Patricia (Moore) Armknecht. She graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1977 and attended the University of Iowa. She worked various jobs throughout the years and most recently loved her job at Trader Joes in Omaha where she lived for many years. Becky had a great love of animals. Over the years, she was "Mom" to many cats, dogs, and even raccoons. She especially loved her horse, Lindy and her companion Bobcat. One of her greatest joys was watching her brother's children, Ella and Hogan grow up. Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her sister: Anne Armknecht and partner Jill Gray of Long Grove, IA; brother: Tom Armknecht and wife Molly Mikuls of Omaha, NE; step-father: Allen Nelson of Red Oak, IA; step sisters: Laura Lof of Grinnell, IA and Julia Elgar and husband Jim of Ipswich, England; niece and nephew: Ella and Hogan Armknecht; and her beloved cat "Bobcat" as well as many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 6 PM Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Don Morgan officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family interment service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
