Birthplace: Rural Stanton, Iowa Resided In: Rural Red Oak, Iowa Raymond Palmquist, age 77, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, May 20, 2005 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Raymond Walter Palmquist was born July 22, 1927 near Stanton, Iowa the son of Simon and Ellen (Linn) Palmquist. He was baptized at a young age at the Stanton Covenant Church where he was a lifetime member and later attended the First Covenant Church. After school Raymond began a lifelong career of farming. In 1951 he was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. When he returned from the war he farmed north of Stanton and east of Coburg. Raymond was united in marriage to Doris Englund on June 3, 1961 in Omaha, Nebraska. They farmed all of their married life in Montgomery County, Iowa retiring in 1990. Preceding Raymond in death were his parents; brother: Howard; and 2 sisters: Ileen Larson and Doris Latimer. Survivors include his wife: Doris Palmquist of Red Oak, Iowa; son: Scott Palmquist of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 daughters: Trudy Palmquist of Red Oak, Iowa; and Sonya Rosenbach and husband Mark of Chillicothe, Missouri; 2 grandchildren: Emily and Dalton Rosenbach of Chillicothe, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the First Covenant Church with Rev. Alan Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Mission Covenant Cemetery near Stanton, Iowa. There will open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Covenant Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
