Birthplace: Oklahoma Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Raymond Paul Moree, age 94, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Society. Raymond was born December 21, 1922 in Oklahoma the son of Denver and Daisy (Kelley) Moree. The family moved to Wales, Iowa when Raymond was very young. He graduated from Wales Lincoln High School and served in the United States Navy during WWII. Upon his return home from service, Raymond was united in marriage to Mavis Reed on May 1, 1946 at the Reed family farm near Elliott, Iowa. They started farming and have lived on the same homestead since 1951. Raymond's passion was farming. He raised crops and livestock throughout his career and also enjoyed having a team of mules and horses. Raymond and Mavis enjoyed boating and camping, fishing, traveling, and was a lifetime member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Mavis on August 15, 2013; and sister: Doris Frederickson. Survivors include his daughter: Sharon Gettler and husband Dean of Red Oak; grandchildren: Travis Gettler and wife Naomi of Red Oak; Nicholas Gettler of Red Oak; Caleb Gettler and wife Jenny of Stanton, IA; and Rebekah Smith and husband Caleb of Atlantic, IA; great grandchildren: Evan, Weston, Addelyn, Paisley, and Owen Gettler; brother: Denver Moree, Jr. of Shenandoah, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:30-7 PM Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Court of Honor. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
