Birthplace: Atlantic, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Raymond W. Blay, age 78, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Raymond Wayne Blay was born August 28, 1932 in Atlantic, Iowa the son of William and Ethel Blay. He was raised in the Atlantic and Red Oak area. He was drafted in the Army during the Korean War serving from 1952-1954. Raymond worked in construction in his early years working for Pratt Construction and Halbert Construction. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Holm on February 12, 1966 in Ralston, Nerbaska. Raymond lived all of his married life in Red Oak. He drove a truck and worked for Oakland Beef Packing Plant before working for D & L Company in Red Oak retiring in 1999. Raymond enjoyed detailing cars and his Ford pickup and loved the beauty of eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Esther Pangburn and Marie Fox. Survivors include his wife: Carolyn Blay of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Bruce Blay and wife Chris of Elliott, Iowa; Bob Blay and wife Jo Beth of Red Oak, Iowa; Kim Blay and Fernando Martinez of Carson, Iowa; and Lisha Wingfield and husband Scott of Red Oak, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers: Robert Blay and wife Judy of Villisca, Iowa; Billy Blay of Arbenden, Arkansas; Frank Blay and wife Donna of Twin Falls, Idaho; and Larry Blay and wife Dolores of Red Oak, Iowa; sisters: Ruby Houtchens and husband Cliff of Red Oak, Iowa and Janie Elwood and husband Dale of Red Oak, Iowa; sister-in-law: Katherine McGuire and husband Don of Minden, Missouri; brother-in-law: Fred Holm and wife Penny of Shenandoah, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, October 29, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Len Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place after the services and burial will be held at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
