Birthplace: Council Bluffs, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Randall S. "Randy" Childs, age 59, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Randall Sherman "Randy" Childs was born December 3, 1949 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the son of Lorne and Dorothy (Bailor) Childs. He was raised in Silver City and at age 16 moved to Tennessee where he worked for the Alladin Company until moving back to Red Oak in 1970. He was united in marriage to Betsy Fisher on August 7, 1971 in Silver City, Iowa. Randy was an over the road trucker starting his career with Lee Wilcox and later running his own truck company. He trucked for over thirty years retiring in 2004 due to health reasons. Over the years Randy and Betsy lived in Minnesota, Oregon, and Iowa. His hobbies included fishing, NASCAR Racing and spending time with his grandchildren. Randy was known to love visiting and telling stories. Preceding him in death were his parents and his father-in-law: Wilbur Fisher. Survivors include his wife: Betsy Childs of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Robert Childs and significant other Billijo Anderson of Red Oak, Iowa; Dan Childs and wife Stephanie of Clarinda, Iowa; Aaron Childs of Red Oak, Iowa; Amanda Childs and significant other Joe Peterson of Clarinda, Iowa; and Angela Childs and significant other Blake Kruse of Red Oak, Iowa; 10 grandchildren: Hannah, Jacob, Calista, Sadie, Lydia, Isaiah, Jakob, Tori, Matthew, and Ryelan; expecting granddaughter: Randi; brother: Jeffrey Childs and wife Michelle of Randolph, Iowa; sister: Peggy Moser and husband Lee of Imogene, Iowa; mother-in-law: Effie Hammers of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mel Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
