Birthplace: Henderson, Iowa Resided In: Henderson, Iowa Ralph Viner, age 85, of Henderson, Iowa passed away Monday, June 17, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Ralph LeRoy Viner was born May 29, 1917 on a farm near Henderson, Iowa the son of William and Katherine (Steiner) Viner. He graduated from Wales High School in 1935 and was united in marriage to Vera Sarah DeBolt on August 1, 1937 in Rockport, Missouri. Ralph and Vera farmed all of their lives near Henderson, Iowa. Vera preceded Ralph in death in 1964. Later Ralph was united in marriage to Opal Cain on January 28, 1984 in Mills County, Iowa. Ralph was a member of the Emerson Masonic Lodge, enjoyed carpentry and welding as well as being a good mechanic. He also enjoyed reading. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Vera; and 6 brothers: Joseph, Vernon, Gerald, Duane, Merwin, and Byron. Survivors include his wife: Opal Viner of Henderson, Iowa; children: Judy Steiner and her husband Lewis of Milford, Massachusetts; Denny Viner and his wife Carol of Henderson, Iowa; and Nancy Bullington and her husband Wade of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 step-daughters: Sondra Scheidle and her husband Bob of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Jacquie Pilling and her husband Hubert of Yukon, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, June 21, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Marlene Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery. There will be Masonic Rites at 7 PM Thursday, June 20, 2002 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel and visitation with the family to follow. Memorials are suggested to either the Diabetes Foundation or the Parkinson's Foundation. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
