Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Ankeny, Iowa formerly Red Oak Ralph Raymond England, age 84, formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 2, 2013 at Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny, Iowa. Ralph was born January 30, 1929 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Grover and Hattie (Penry) England. He was united in marriage to Ida Mae Graham on November 8, 1946 in Pittsburg, Kansas. Four sons were born to this union: Daniel, David, Dennis, and Donald. Ralph worked many different places over the years including: Red Oak Community Schools, Montgomery County Courthouse, Houghton State Bank, City of Red Oak Sewer Plant, Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel, and Stanton Community Schools where he retired. The job he loved the most was the years he spent working for the Red Oak Fire Department. Ralph was very active in the community and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows holding many offices at the local level and served as Grand Master of Iowa for several years. Ralph served as a Boy Scouts leader and helped mentor many children. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his many years of service. He was a member of the Montgomery County Memorial Court of Honor and First Christian Church. Ralph will be greatly missed by his family, but they know he is happy and at peace now that he has joined Ida Mae in Heaven. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years: Ida Mae England on September 16, 2009; son: Dennis James England; brothers: Wayne, David, Roy, Russell, and John; and sister: Opal Koons. Survivors include his sons: Daniel England and wife Priscilla of Granger, IA; David England and wife Wendy of Mesa, AZ; and Donald England and wife Penny of Red Oak, IA; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; brother: Elmer England and wife Pat of Clarinda, IA; sisters: Mary Kennedy of Philip, SD and Jeanne Varns of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law: Genevia Tisler of Weir, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family. They will create a permanent memorial in Ralph's memory. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
