Birthplace: Centerville, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Rae Bergstrom, age 89, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Rae was born October 19, 1924 in Centerville, Iowa the daughter of James and Grace (Fry) Bauman. She graduated from Centerville High School and received her teaching certificate from UNI Teachers College. She taught for 3 years in Ft. Madison and was united in marriage to Melvin Bergstrom on January 2, 1947 in Glenwood, Iowa. Rae was a homemaker, helped on the farm, and raised her family. She was a very active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton for many years. Rae enjoyed raising flowers, tending to her gardens, making crafts, and attending craft shows. She was also a former member of the Farm Bureau Women. Preceding Rae in death were her parents; husband: Melvin Bergstrom on May 6, 1991; brothers: Harold and Alfred Bauman; and son: Randall Bergstrom on March 8, 2013. Survivors include her son: Roger Bergstrom and wife Jill of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Cale Bergstrom of Des Moines, IA and Jenna Boehne and husband Greg of Waukee, IA; twin sister: Ruth Gillespie of Villisca, IA; sisters-in-law: Florence Anderson of Chicago, IL and Carolyn Bauman of Centerville, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton, Iowa. Burial will be in the Mission Covenant Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Evangelical Covenant Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
