Birthplace: Page County, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Leone Hascall, age 90, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after an extended illness. Ruth "Leone" Hascall was born January 28, 1918 on a farm in Page County, Iowa the daughter of Eric and Anna (Swanson) Erickson. She was raised in Essex, Iowa and was confirmed at the Covenant Church. Leone graduated from the Red Oak High School in 1936 and worked in the filing department at Earl May Seed Company in Shenandoah. She was united in marriage to George Hascall, Jr. on May 28, 1938 in Emerson, Iowa. Leone joined the First Baptist Church in Emerson in 1940. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Emerson, a Past Matron, a member of Baptist M & A, Emerson Women's Club, Natural Gas Pipeline Company Retirees Golden Girls Club, and the Emerson Community Club. Leone held various offices in each of these organizations throughout the years. Leone was preceded in death by her parents and her husband George Hascall, Jr. on July 13, 1999. Survivors include her daughters: Judy Holton of Bemus Point, New York and Janet Sanders and husband Dick of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: George Holton and wife Nikki of Leesburg, Virginia; Jeff Holton and wife Carrie of Spring Valley, Wisconsin; Eric Sanders and wife Aimee of Omaha, Nebraska; and Chris Sanders and wife Marcie of Omaha, Nebraska; great grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua, Jacob, Micaiah, Gabriel, Simon, Savanna, Isabella, Duncan, and Tucker; sister: Marge Hanson of Conrad, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Emerson Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Pries officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery. There will be an Eastern Star service held at 7 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with visitation with the family to follow until 8:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Emerson Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
