Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Phyllis Gohlinghorst, age 80, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, April 30, 2004 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Phyllis Ann Gohlinghorst was born December 10, 1923 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Lois (Fisher) Watt. She was raised in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak High School in 1941. Phyllis attended the Red Oak Junior College and later went to work for the Telephone Company. Phyllis was working at the print shop in Red Oak when she was united in marriage to David G. Gohlinghorst on November 1, 1947 in Red Oak. Born to this union were six children. Phyllis was a homemaker. She loved sewing, needlepoint, and quilting. She was a member of the Climax United Methodist Church, the Women's Society of Christian Service, former Band Booster, and helped for many years with the Montgomery County Fair and Fairboard. Preceding her in death were her parents, and a brother, Lloyd Watt. Survivors include her husband, David G. Gohlinghorst of Red Oak, IA; children: David L. Gohlinghorst of Red Oak, IA; Deborah Dudzinski and husband Walter of Omaha, Nebraska; Patricia Seipel of Maryville, MO; Donald Gohlinghorst and wife Mary of Red Oak, IA; Phillip Gohlinghorst and wife Patsy of Red Oak, IA; and Peggy Rasmussen and husband Layne of Johnston, IA; grandchildren: Paul Dudzinski and wife Erin of Chandler, AZ; Carl Dudzinski of Mesa, AZ; Chad Vanderhoof and wife Lori of Red Oak, IA; Angela Vanderhoof of Red Oak, IA; Megan Seipel, and J.T. Seipel both of Maryville, MO; Dan Gohlinghorst and wife Danette of Missouri Valley, IA; Marjorie Gohlinghorst of Ankeny, IA; Katelin Gohlinghorst of Red Oak, IA; Shawn, Trevor, and Keegan Gohlinghorst all of Red Oak, IA; Erik, Anna, and Jens Rasmussen all of Johnston, IA; 4 great grandchildren: Nicole, Cameron, and Randi Jo Vanderhoof of Red Oak, IA; and Savanna Abraham of Red Oak, IA; brother: Earl "Bud" Watt and wife Mary of Lakeside, CA; sister: Carol Huey and husband R. DeWayne of Hayward, CA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
