Birthplace: Beatrice, Nebraska Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Phyllis Jean Fada, age 76, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Phyllis was born September 23, 1937 in Beatrice, Nebraska the daughter of Henry and Anna Rickels. She moved to the southwest Iowa area when she was very young and attended school in Villisca. She was united in marriage to Dwaine Cooper on December 27, 1953 and to this union three children were born: Debbie, Randy, and Dennis. She later was united in marriage to Ed Fada on December 29, 1972 and to this union one daughter was born: Tammi. Phyllis and Ed have lived all of their married life near Red Oak. Phyllis waitressed for many area restaurants over the years. She enjoyed needle point, quilting, gardening, cooking, watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Red OakTigers football, having coffee with her good friends, and spending time with her beloved dogs. Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers: Richard and Floyd Olsen. Survivors include her husband: Ed Fada of Red Oak; children: Debbie Cooper and partner Marlyce Carr of Dallas Center, IA; Randy Cooper and wife Denise of Red Oak; Dennis Cooper and wife Jill of Villisca; and Tammi VanMeter and husband Brian of Red Oak; stepchildren: Tim Fada and wife Krystalle of Red Oak and Carrie Giroski and husband Eric of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren: Charity Myers and husband Tim of Truro, IA; Cody Winther and wife Nicole of Cedar Falls, IA; Jon Cooper and wife Shauna of Omaha; Josh Cooper and wife Kristy of Omaha; Liz Cooper of Red Oak; Tony Cooper and wife Shawnie of Stanton, IA; Jennifer Collier and husband Keith of Garner, KS; Melani Fada and Hailey Fada of Red Oak; Josie Snyder of Red Oak; Courtney Duval and Brittney Duval of Vancouver, WA; and Hayden and Katie VanMeter of Red Oak; 12 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Charles Fada and wife Norma of Dayton, OH and Galen Fada and wife Mychelle of Pacific Junction, IA; sisters-in-law: JoAnn Harms and husband Dale of Red Oak and Iva Olsen of Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak High School Football Program, the Red Oak Rescue Unit, or the Elliott First Responders. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
