Obituary

Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa and Climax area Resided In: Clarinda, Iowa Philip Allen, age 77, of Clarinda, Iowa formerly of the Climax area passed away Friday, August 30, 2002 at his residence in Clarinda, Iowa. Philip Leland Allen was born May 27, 1925 in rural Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Arthur and Vera (Clawson) Allen. He was raised in Montgomery County and graduated from the Red Oak High School. Philip served his country during WWII in the Navy. After returning from the service he attended Iowa State College where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He moved to Alaska for a couple of years before moving to Shreveport, Louisiana where he worked for the Kansas City Southern Railroad until his retirement. He then moved to Madison, Alabama until his return to Clarinda, Iowa where he was currently making his home. Philip was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother: James Arthur. Survivors include his brother: Clinton Allen and his wife Carolyn of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 sisters: Carol Jones and her husband Gordon of Shenandoah, Iowa; and Mary Donohue and her husband Wayne of Stanton, Iowa; 11 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside committal services will be held at the Walnut Cemetery at 2 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2002. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
