Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Peggy Mae McAlpin, age 87, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Peggy was born August 6, 1934, in Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Ellen (Frank) Pickrel. She was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School. Peggy was united in marriage to Donavan Hunt and two children were born to this union: Ronald and Sue. They lived on the farm near Essex for many years where Peggy operated her beauty shop. Eventually, Peggy moved to Clarinda, Iowa, and worked for Katies Flowers for many years. She married David McAlpin and they made their home in Shambaugh, Iowa. She was a longtime member of Harvest Fellowship Church and truly loved the Lord. After David's death, Peggy eventually moved to Red Oak, Iowa. While in Red Oak, she attended Crossroads Community Church. Peggy was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and painting. She was also a talented seamstress. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: David McAlpin; grandson: Landon Hunt; and sister: Karen Detloff. Survivors include her children: Ron Hunt and wife Cathy of Crystal Lake, IL and Sue Goranson and husband Mark of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Aubrey Sears of Milford, OH; Evan Hunt of Chicago, IL; Matthew Goranson of Red Oak, IA; and Chris Goranson and wife Amber of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Makinlee and Madison Goranson and Sabrina Robb; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 3 PM Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Villisca, Iowa Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa is in charge of arrangements
