Birthplace: Missouri Valley, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Pauline Culver, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, November 23, 2001 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. Leora "Pauline" Culver was born April 8, 1916 in Missouri Valley, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Etna (Martin) Potter. She graduated from the Hastings, Iowa High School in 1932 and moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked for wealthy families cleaning houses. She always remembered the time she had the opportunity to ride in a Cord car. On November 20, 1939, Pauline was united in marriage to Harold Culver in Papillion, Nebraska. They moved to Santa Monica, California where she was a seamstress and Harold worked for Douglas Aircraft. Later they moved back to Bellevue where Harold worked for Martin Aircraft and Pauline was a homemaker. After the war Pauline and Harold moved to southwest, Iowa living in several places before settling in Red Oak where they farmed for the past 54 years. Pauline was a member of the Neighborhood club and a 4-H Leader for many years. She enjoyed Flower Gardening, Camping, Bird Watching, and was a great oil painter. And she loved her cats as well. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; and 3 brothers: Dale; Virgil; and Laverne. Survivors include her husband Harold Culver of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 sons: Dallas Culver and his wife Roxanne of Red Oak, Iowa; and Richard Culver of Atlantic, Iowa; 8 grandchildren: Julie Ehlers of Cumberland, Iowa; Joni Ernst and her husband Gail of Red Oak, Iowa; Wade Culver and his wife Melissa of Red Oak, Iowa; Jesseca Kearney and her husband Jeremy of Las Vegas, Nevada; Betsy, Bess, Clara, and Dallas Culver all of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 great grandchildren: Dawson Culver and Elizabeth Ernst both of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Olson officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, November 26, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
