Birthplace: Shenandoah, Iowa Resided In: Pacific Junction, Iowa Paul Ejean Curtis Rydberg, age 87, of Pacific Junction, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Paul Ejean Curtis Rydberg was born August 11, 1924 in Shenandoah, Iowa the son of Paul and Dora (Skalberg) Rydberg. He was raised near Essex, Iowa and graduated from Coburg High School in 1942. Paul was united in marriage to Frances Canfield on April 21, 1945 in Troy, Kansas. They farmed all of their married life in the Mills County, Iowa area until retiring in 1990 and moving into Shenandoah, Iowa. In 2007, they moved to live with their daughter, Kay, on an acreage, near Glenwood, Iowa. Paul enjoyed living in the country again and especially enjoyed using Kay's 1951 Ford 8N to mow the pasture. You can take the boy off the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the boy. Farming was his passion. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother: Delain Rydberg; sister: Delores Peppers and her husband Harry; and an infant daughter: Lois. Survivors include his wife: Frances Rydberg of Pacific Junction, IA; daughters: Janet Haan and husband Dutch of Des Moines, IA and Kay Leslie of Pacific Junction, IA; grandchildren: Joe Haan and wife Jackie of Des Moines, IA and Allyson Hildebrand and husband PJ of Pickett, WI; great grandchildren: Holly and Jacob Hildebrand; sister-in-law: Marge Rydberg of Houma, LA; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Private family interment services will take place at a later date at the Essex, Iowa Cemetery. There will be open visitation Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
