Birthplace: Shenandoah, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Paul Edward Perkins, age 78, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Paul was born September 24, 1942 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Thomas Nelson and Madalene (McDermott) Perkins. He was raised in Page County, Iowa, graduating from Essex High School in 1960. Paul farmed all of his life and at one time worked cattle with the Phelps family. Paul also served in the Iowa Army National Guard. He was united in marriage to Sharon Anderson on December 31, 1964 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Two children were born to this union: Paula and Stacy. Paul enjoyed hunting deer and coyote and spending time with his family. He always loved the family gatherings and visiting. Paul was always willing to lend a helping hand and spent many years volunteering at the Montgomery County Fair. Preceding him in death were his parents and wife, Sharon Perkins. Survivors include his daughter, Paula Perkins of Red Oak, IA, and son, Stacy Perkins of Red Oak, IA; brothers: John Perkins and wife MiHee of W. Des Moines, IA; Leo Perkins and wife Patricia of Gulf Port, MS; and Richard Perkins and wife Pat of Shenandoah, IA; sisters: Mary Rose Shedd and husband Paul of Omaha, NE and Rita Kennedy and husband Lyle of Tabor, IA; brother-in-law: Marvin Anderson of Windermere, FL; sisters-in-law: Patricia LaRose and husband Ron of Fairfield, IA; Beverly Gillespie and husband Don of Red Oak, IA; Diane Stifle of Rogers, MN; and Marlene Albertson of Red Oak, IA; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, September 13, 2021 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
