Birthplace: Iowa City, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Patricia Myers, age 79, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Red Oak Healthcare Community. Patricia Sue Myers was born April 14, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of John, Jr. and Lucille (West) Maddox. She was raised in Dayton, Iowa moving to Ft. Dodge at the age of 16. Pat was united in marriage to Richard Myers on August 15, 1954 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. Over the years Pat worked for an eye doctor in Ft. Dodge and the Kersten Medical Clinic before owning and operating a miniature golf course. Pat and Dick later owned Hi-Ho Dario Restaurant for 6 years and a bowling center in Boone, Iowa. They moved to Red Oak in 1976 when they purchased Red Oak Lanes. The next year they opened the roller skating rink in Red Oak. They owned a bowling center in Lincoln, Nebraska at this same time. Pat organized all of the league bowling in Red Oak for many years. Her love and joy of bowling led her to be inducted in to the Red Oak Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. She retired from Red Oak Lanes in 2008. Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church, former Red Oak Eagles member, and VFW Auxiliary Past President. Preceding Pat in death were her parents; sister: Mary Shives; and brother: John "Dick" Maddox. Survivors include her husband: Richard Myers of Red Oak; daughter: Pam Schoening and husband Phil of Red Oak; son: Allan Myers and wife Jane of Red Oak; grandchildren: Eric Artzer and wife Jeanne of Tucson, AZ; Stephanie Jeffords and husband Paul of Monument, CO; Jessica Schoening of Viroqua, WI; Zachary Myers of Portland, OR; Joel Myers of Austin, TX; and Kelsey Myers of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren: Aries, Aubrey, Maddox, Grace, and Benjamin; sister: Betty Peterson of Dayton, IA; sister-in-law: Nelda Wolthius and husband Gary of Spencer, IA; brother-in-law: James Myers of Spencer; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the VFW and VFW Auxiliary. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
