Patricia Rae "Pat" Gilliland, age 77, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Bryan West Health Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Pat was born April 6, 1946, in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of Larence and Wanda (Courcier) Johnson. She was raised in Stanton, Iowa, and graduated from Stanton High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to Jerry Gilliland on July 26, 1964, in Stanton, Iowa. They lived in Jamaica, Iowa, until moving back to Stanton where they lived most of their married life. Over the years, Pat provided in-home daycare for children, worked at Stanton Care Center, Pioneer Mutual Insurance, and retired from the Montgomery County Family YMCA. She was a long-time member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church, the Woman of ELCA, Stanton Chamber of Commerce serving as secretary, coordinator of the Stanton Senior Center Meals on Wheels, Community Betterment Association, and received the Ole Award in 2017. Pat enjoyed playing card games, tending to her flowers, playing Bridge, and watching sporting events. She loved all children, especially her grandchildren. Pat treasured her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; grandson: Cody Gilliland; and granddaughter: Cassie Williams. Survivors include her husband: Jerry Gilliland of Stanton, IA; children: Toby Gilliland and wife Barb of Red Oak, IA; Monte Gilliland and wife Carrie of Salina, KS; and Traci Yeager and husband Trent of Kasota, MN; grandchildren: Danielle Terry and husband David of Shenandoah, IA; Tanner Gilliland of Overland Park, KS; Jaydan Gilliland of Red Oak, IA; Megan Wetter and husband Clayton of Salina, KS; Paige Gilliland of Salina, KS; Jordan Gilliland of Lincoln, NE; Caleb Gilliland of Salina, KS; Boston Yeager and wife Alexis of St. Peter, MN; Jarett Yeager and wife Lillie of Middleton, WI; Chase Yeager of Kasota, MN; Tate Yeager of Kasota, MN; and Carlos Williams of Stanton, IA; great grandchildren: Cailex and Cylin Williams; Noah and Ellie Jo Terry; Brooks and Mila Wetter; and Griffin and Lincoln Yeager; brother: Butch Johnson and wife Cindy of Leon, IA; sister: Donna Johnson and husband Tom of Stanton, IA; brother-in-law: John Gilliland of Harlan, IA; sisters-in-law: Maredith Phillips of Lawrence, KS; Linda Grady and husband Mike of Wichita, KS; and Janet Gilliland of Kidder, MO; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 AM Monday, February 12, 2024, at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Mamre Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Mamrelund Lutheran Church or the Montgomery County Family YMCA.
