Birthplace: Nodaway, Iowa Resided In: Nodaway, Iowa Olin LeRoy Hamman, age 81, of Nodaway, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Red Oak. Olin was born May 6, 1933 in Nodaway, Iowa the son of Earny and Leona (Rascher) Hamman. He graduated from Nodaway High School and served in the United States Army Air Force. Upon his return home, he started helping his dad farm. On February 25, 1957, Olin started working for the Lisle Corporation where he worked until September 30, 2003. He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Villisca, Iowa and the Corning American Legion Post #117. Olin loved country music, raising watermelons, cantaloupes and pumpkins to share with family and friends, going to town for coffee with his friends, and spending time with his faithful companion, "Murphy", an Australian Blue Healer dog. Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers: Roland and Floyd. Survivors include his sisters-in-law: Dorothy Hamman of Red Oak, IA and Pearl Hamman of Boone, IA; nephews: Kenny Hamman and wife Bev of Red Oak, IA and Dennis Hamman and wife Carol of Boone, IA; nieces: Kathy Inman and husband Doug of Colorado Springs, CO; Karen Beaty and husband Tom of St.Charles, MO; and Debby Anglen and husband Randy of Glenwood, IA; many great nieces and great nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Villisca, Iowa with Pastor Jerome Wagoner officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Rose Cemetery in Adams County, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 - 8 PM Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. A memorial fund is being established in Olin's memory. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
