Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Norris Triplett, age 79, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after an extended illness. Norris Wayne Triplett was born February 7, 1923 in Montgomery County near Henderson, Iowa the son of John and Rosa (Harding) Triplett. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1940. Norris was united in marriage to Ruth Ellen Schilling on March 2, 1945 in Montgomery County, Iowa. They farmed in several different places in the county moving into Red Oak in 1964. Norris worked for the County for 2 years before going to work for the Department of Transportation where he worked for 19 years. Norris retired in 1985. He was a member of the church in each of the different communities around Montgomery County where he lived. Most recently Norris was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was very involved in many different areas. He enjoyed camping, fishing, winters in Arizona, and Cards and Games with the family. No matter what he was doing Norris always did it with his tremendous sense of humor. Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Ruth Ellen Triplett of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 daughters: Cheryl Voelliger and her husband Warren of Ottumwa, Iowa; Vickie Steve and her husband Ron of North Augusta, South Carolina; and Kris Pierson and her husband John of Reno, Nevada; 8 grandchildren: Erin Voelliger of Ottumwa, Iowa; Amy Deppe and her husband Matthew of Morton, Illinois; Mark Voelliger of Ottumwa, Iowa; Veronica Satterfield and her husband William of Charlotte, North Carolina; Rodney Steve of Charlotte, North Carolina; Andrea Pierson, Ryan Pierson, and Alex Pierson, all of Reno, Nevada; 1 great granddaughter: Zoe Voelliger of Ottumwa, Iowa; brother: George Triplett and his wife Julie of Ballwin, Missouri; 2 sisters: Marilyn Viner of Emerson, Iowa; and Doris Reid and her husband Howard of Roggen, Colorado; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, December 28, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, December 27, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or the American Lung Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
