Birthplace: Omaha, Nebraska Resided In: Aurora, Colorado Nicholas A. Mutchler, age 22, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 in Aurora, Colorado. Nicholas Andrew Mutchler was born October 19, 1987 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Jeffrey and Christine (Thorn) Mutchler. He lived in Omaha until the age of 10 when the family moved to Littleton, Colorado. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Army and served a tour of duty in Iraq. He received the Army Commendation Medal and Rating of Expert in Firearms. Currently, Nicholas was a student at the Colorado School of Trades. One of his favorite hobbies was snow boarding. Preceding him in death were his grandfathers: Tommy A. Thorn and Allen Mutchler; and uncles: Tommy L. Thorn and Rick Mutchler. Survivors include his mother: Christine Pope and husband Tim of Thurman, Iowa; father: Jeffrey Mutchler and wife Helen Loraine of Redding, California; brothers: Stephen Mutchler who is serving in the United States Navy, Bryan Pope and Justin Pope both of Thurman, Iowa; sisters: Amy Pope and Natalie Pope both of Thurman, Iowa; grandmothers: Nina Cristofano and husband Dan of Denver, Colorado and Norma Tichy of Red Oak, Iowa; girlfriend: Cheyenne Traversie of Aurora, Colorado; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Shenandoah, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-7 PM Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Siena/ Francis House in Omaha, Nebraska. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
