Birthplace: Rosendale, MO Resided In: Rural Elliott, IA Nathalee Gilleland, age 73, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Nathalee was born March 5, 1943 in Rosendale, Missouri the daughter of Lyman and Ruby (Swain) Bill. She was raised in Rosendale graduating from the North Andrew High School. She attended cosmetology school and was a beautician. Nathalee was united in marriage to William Gilleland on June 17, 1962 in Rosendale, Missouri. They moved back to the Elliott area in 1963. She owned and operated the Clip-n-Curl in Elliott for 22 years and sold beauty supplies on the road. She and Bill started G's Pizza Works in Griswold and then began a career with Harveys Casino, Harrah's Casino, and retired from Bluffs Run Casino. She opened thirteen new restaurants during the years employed by the casinos. Most recently, Nathalee worked at the Ann Wickman Child Care Center in Atlantic, Iowa. Her hobbies included gardening, tending to her flowers, cooking, sewing, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters: Sandra and Nancy. Survivors include her husband: William Gilleland of Elliott, IA; children: Pam Elwood and husband Randy of Atlantic, IA; Rhonda Shanahan and husband Jim of Castle Rock, CO; and Julie Gilleland of Brussels, Belgium; grandchildren: Tanya Fuller and husband TJ of Portland, OR; Joshua Elwood of Des Moines, IA; Maximilian Elwood of Atlantic, IA; Emma Shanahan of Castle Rock, CO; William Shanahan of Castle Rock, CO; Natan Verbeelen of Brussels, Belgium; Jack Shanahan of Castle Rock, CO Kai Verbeelen of Brussels Belgium; and Eliot Verbeelen of Brussels, Belgium; and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Friday, December 23, 2016 at the First Church of Christ in Atlantic, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 9-11 AM Friday, December 23, 2016 at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
