Birthplace: Omaha, NE Resided In: Red Oak, IA formerly Elliott Mildred Leona Peterson, age 97, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Mildred was born March 14, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of George and Mae (Horton) Neal. She graduated from Omaha South High School in 1938 and was united in marriage to Myron Underwood in 1939 in Omaha. She worked many years for Armour Credit Union. After retirement from Armour, Mildred worked for Mutual of Omaha Insurance. Mildred was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Omaha. Myron preceded her in death in 1973. Mildred was united in marriage to Delbert Peterson in 1980 in Elliott, Iowa where they made their home. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Elliott. Delbert preceded her in death in 2001. Most recently, Mildred made her home at Arlington Place in Red Oak. In addition to her husbands, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Phoebe Percifield and Velma Davis; and brother: George Neal. Survivors include her son, Donald Underwood and wife Joanne Anderson of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren: Gerald Underwood and Diana Underwood of Portland, TX; 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; sister-in-law: Marjorie Neal of Osceola, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Waveland Township Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Elliott Volunteer Fire Department. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
