Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Mildred Marsden, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Mildred Maxine Marsden was born May 29, 1918 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Lester and Vera (King) Cozad. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1936 and attended summer school at Peru, Nebraska. Mildred taught country school for approximately seven years. She was united in marriage to Raymond Marsden on February 24, 1946 in Red Oak, Iowa. After starting her family, Mildred started working at the J.C. Penney Store where she worked for several years. In 1962, she went to work for Ulysses Arney when he opened Arney's Hallmark Store on the east side of the square. She eventually bought the store and worked there for 20 years retiring in 1982. Mildred then worked part time for the new owner until 1985. Her retirement years were spent bicycling, visiting the grandchildren, and enjoying bus tours. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Monday Club. Preceding her in death were her parents; infant son: Bobby Ray; and her brother: Bill Cozad. Mildred is survived by her husband: Ray Marsden of Red Oak, Iowa; daughters: Donna Andrusyk and husband Robert of Sumner, Iowa; and Cheryl Marsden of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Ian Andrusyk of Chicago, Illinois; and Jara Andrusyk of Chicago, Illinois; sister: Peg Fast and husband Orville of Elliott, Iowa; sister-in-law: Margaret Cozad of Red Oak, Iowa; sister-in-law: Maxine Marsden of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or the Hysham House. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
