Birthplace: Ottumwa, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Mildred King, age 89, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Stanton Care Center in Stanton, Iowa. Mildred Frances King was born June 9, 1913 in Ottumwa, Iowa the daughter of Wyatt and Zola (McCall) Walker. Mildred was raised in Ottumwa and graduated from the Ottumwa High School. She went on to receive her teaching certificate. Mildred was united in marriage to Arnold King. They moved to Avoca, Iowa in 1956 where they owned and operated a Jewelry Store for many years. Mildred and Arnold moved to Prescott, Arizona in 1972 and later Kingman, Arizona. Arnold preceded Mildred in death in May of 1987. Mildred moved to Emerson, Iowa in 1988 and has been a resident of the Stanton Care Center for the past 4 years. Mildred was a member of the Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband: Arnold in 1987; 3 brothers: Lawrence; Harley; and Paul; and a step-son: Ronald King. Survivors include her 2 sons: Lawrence King and his wife Phyllis of Emerson, Iowa; and A. Craig King and his wife Beverly of Fountain Valley, California; daughter-in-law: Shirley King of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister: Marjorie Oatman of Ottumwa, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held in Ottumwa, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be held with the family from 7-8 PM Thursday, January 9, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial of the cremated remains will take place in Arizona. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements
