Birthplace: Omaha, Nebraska Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Micheal P. "Mick" McCoy, age 61, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at his residence. Micheal Paul "Mick" McCoy was born August 24, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Paul and Lois (Sickles) McCoy. He was raised in Coburg and Red Oak graduating from Red Oak High School in 1967. He attended Southwest Community College for a short period of time. Mick was united in marriage to Sharon Malzer on November 30, 1968 in Cherokee, Iowa. They lived in Cherokee where Mick worked at his father-in-law's repair shop and then moved to Des Moines where he worked for the Chrysler Dealership before moving back to Red Oak in 1971. Over the years he worked for McCoy Repair Shop, Uniroyal, and owned and operated his own Gravel Trucking Business. Mick also has owned and operated a car wash and a Laundromat retiring in 2000. He loved having coffee at the Rainbow Café, fishing with his friend Bryan Platt, and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sharon McCoy on September 22, 2001. Survivors include daughters: Melinda Lucky and husband John of Prescott, Arizona and Michele Johnson and husband Shane of South Sioux City, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren: Josh Lucky of Red Oak, Iowa; Brandie Lucky of Prescott, Arizona; and Zach, Ben, and Shanelle Johnson all of South Sioux City, Nebraska; parents: Paul and Lois McCoy of Red Oak, Iowa; brothers: Robert McCoy and wife Judi of Scottsdale, Arizona and Max McCoy and wife Loretta of Pinedale, Wyoming; special friend: Cheryl Barbour of Red Oak, Iowa; Mother-in-law: Corrine Malzer of Cherokee, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Diane Moore and husband David of Larrabee, Iowa and Vicky Peterson and husband C.A. of Cherokee, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established in Mick's name. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
