Birthplace: Wales, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Merwin Viner, age 92, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Merwin Wilford Viner was born January 8, 1909 in Montgomery County, Iowa near Wales the son of Will and Katherine (Steiner) Viner. He graduated from the Wales High School and later married Hazel Vannausdle on December 27, 1933 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Merwin and Hazel lived all of their lives in Montgomery County, Iowa where they farmed. Merwin was a member of the Hawthorne United Methodist Church and the Emerson Masonic Lodge. Merwin truly loved farming and was also and avid bowler. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Joseph; Gerald; Vernon; and Duane. Survivors include his wife: Hazel Viner of Red Oak, Iowa; son: LeRoy Viner and his wife Phyllis of Malvern, Iowa; daughter: Deanna Viner of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Gina Klindt and her husband Rod of Glenwood, Iowa; Teri Speck and her husband Erick of Glenwood, Iowa; and Denise Fichter and her husband Greg of Shenandoah, Iowa; 9 great grandchildren: Brad and Dustin Klindt; Erin, Tyler, and Emily Speck; and Kristen, Austin, Jeremey, and Justin Fichter; 2 brothers: Ralph Viner and his wife Opal of Wales, Iowa; and Byron Viner and his wife Marilyn of Emerson, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, August 3, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Janice Carlton officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Masonic services will be held 7 PM Thursday, August 2, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with visitation with the family to follow. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
