Melvin Frederick Woods, age 83, of Beatrice, Nebraska formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at the Beatrice Community Hospital. Melvin was born September 3, 1938 in Durham, North Carolina, the son of James and Katherine (Medlin) Woods. Melvin lived the majority of his life in the Omaha, Nebraska area and also lived in Red Oak, Iowa for many years. Melvin served in the United States Air Force being stationed at Offutt AFB in Bellevue, Nebraska for many years. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Lawson on August 11, 1987 in Henderson, North Carolina. Most recently, they made their home in Beatrice, Nebraska. Throughout the years Melvin's occupation was in custodial services. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline of Beatrice, Nebraska; children: Alysia Zabokrtsky Beatrice, Nebraska and Kenneth Zabokrtsky of Shenandoah, Iowa; many grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Memorial graveside services will be held 2 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the Omaha National Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
