Obituary

Maxine Hall, age 93, of Urbandale, Iowa formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, and Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Deerfield Retirement Community in Urbandale. Maxine was born on a farm two miles north of Stanton, Iowa, on March 12, 1932, the daughter of Raymond and Goldia (Green) Brees. Maxine was the youngest of five children. Maxine grew up on a farm in southwestern Iowa. She graduated from high school in Nodaway, Iowa, in 1949. She attended Clarinda Junior College and later taught at Patterson School in Montgomery County for one year. Maxine was united in marriage to Thomas C. Ingersoll in September of 1951. To this union three children were born. Maxine and her children moved to Red Oak in 1967. She married David "Richard" Hall on October 26, 1996.

Maxine managed First Federal Savings and Loan of Council Bluffs in Red Oak for 15 years. After her retirement from the savings and loan, Maxine purchased the Hallmark store and worked until 2002 when she retired for the second time. Maxine enjoyed her memberships in Red Oak Ambassadors, Altrusa Club, BPW, and Touchstone while living in Red Oak. She also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and a good glass of wine. Shortly after her retirement, Maxine moved to Atlantic, where she lived until moving to Ankeny, Iowa, to be closer to family. In February of 2024, Maxine moved to Deerfield Retirement Community in Urbandale, Iowa. Maxine enjoyed 17 years of snow birding in Mesa, Arizona where she made many friends and enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: David Richard Hall; her son: Thomas Clyde Ingersoll Jr.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Rodrick and Genevieve Hall; sisters: Dorothy Rhoades and Juanita Thorne; brothers: Vernon Brees and Deane Brees; brothers-in-law: Rodrick Hall and Clarence Thorne; sisters-in-law: Marge Hall and Darlene Brees.

Survivors include her son: William Ingersoll (Brenda); her daughter: Wendy England (David); daughter-in-law: Angie Ingersoll; grandchildren: Benjamin Ingersoll (Mel); Beth Frettim: Skylar Winterstien (Kelly); Heather Smith (Rob); Crystal England (Jack); Justin England (Carrie); and Jessica Hass (Ryan); great grandchildren: Addison Ingersoll; Jermaine Ingersoll; Trace Frettim; Beau Frettim; Ashley Soat (Eric); Stef Smith (Ryan); Noah Beljaars (Saturn); Gabe England; Eve England; Elle England; and Katelyn Hass; great great grandchildren: Aria Soat; Aurora Soat; Berton Smith, Bearett Marshall; and Brinklee Marshall; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 28, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Joshua LeRette Food Pantry Project.
