Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Maxine Louise Cleveland, age 100, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society. Maxine was born April 6, 1920, in Montgomery County, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Mabel (Lundeen) Roberts. She graduated from Red Oak High School and taught country school until her marriage to Richard Cleveland on July 7, 1946 in Red Oak, Iowa. Maxine worked for the Superintendent of Red Oak School before starting in the Montgomery County Recorder's Office. She retired after 40 years. Maxine was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Monday Club. Her hobbies included knitting, reading, and keeping her home meticulously. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Richard Cleveland on January 27, 1979; and sisters: Doris Roberts and Iona Maxell. Survivors include her niece: Ann Ruple and husband Kennie of Papillion, NE; nephew: Ronald Maxell of Seattle, WA; and other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Thursday, January 14. 2021 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Social distancing and wearing of masks are required.
