Birthplace: Marysville, Kansas Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Mary Lucille Williams, age 91, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, August 9, 2007 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Mary "Lucille" Williams was born June 12, 1916 in Marysville, Kansas the daughter of Harry and Maude (Harrison) Maendele. At age 14, she was stricken with a mysterious illness for which there was no medical name or treatment. It is now known as polio. She faced challenges all of her life just to accomplish ordinary everyday tasks. Despite her handicaps, she figured out how to do things "her way" even though it was twice as hard or took twice as long. Lucille was united in marriage to Ralph Williams on March 27, 1937 in Marysville, Kansas. She was a wonderful housekeeper, excellent cook, raised three children, loved crocheting and playing games including cards.. She was basically homebound for she needed assistance just to leave her home. Ralph passed away on March 7, 1979 and Lucille moved to Red Oak, Iowa to be near her daughter. She maintained her own apartment until her health declined in 1996. At that time she entered the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center where she resided until her recent illness requiring hospitalization. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Ralph Williams; brothers: Harry, Richard, John and Dee Maendele; and a sister: Norma Busch. Survivors include her daughter: Mary Ellen Godbout and husband Ron of Red Oak, Iowa; sons: Clifford "Buzz" Williams and wife Mary of Wright City, Oklahoma and John Williams and wife Jean of Elkland, Missouri; grandchildren: Jeff Godbout and his son Steven; Mike Godbout and wife Julie and their sons: Brenden and Casey; Duane Williams and wife Darla and their children: Corey and Emily; Marcus Williams and wife Toni and their sons: Kyle, Brandan, Zachery, and Alex; and Mike Williams and wife Dutchess and their children: Karry and DevLynn; step-grandson: Chad Mathis and wife Chantay and their children: Morgan, Macee, and Max; 1 great great grandchild; brothers: Forrest Maendele of Marysville, Kansas; and Jerry Maendele of Topeka, Kansas; sisters: Betty Ohem and Joan Clowe both of Marysville, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the Memorial Gardens of Memories Cemetery in Buffalo, Missouri. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
