Birthplace: Bedford, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Mary L. Walters, age 79, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, July 3, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Mary Louise Walters was born July 11, 1926 in Bedford, Iowa the daughter of Ray and Mamie (Lantz) Dawson. She was raised in Bedford, Iowa where she attended school. Mary was united in marriage to Lee Walters on August 2, 1946 in Hiawatha, Kansas. When Lee returned from World War II, they moved to Red Oak, Iowa where they have lived their whole married life. Mary was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, was a homemaker, and helped Lee with his electrical business. Preceding Mary in death were her parents; son: James Lee Walters in 1976; two sisters: Margaret Dawson and Rosie Steigleder; and a brother: Joe Dawson. Survivors include her husband: Lee Walters of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Janet Maynes of Arden Hills, Minnesota; grandchildren: Pat Maynes and wife Kelly of Red Oak, Iowa; Jill Maynes of Somerset, New Jersey; and Jeff Walters and wife Betsy of Kirkwood, Missouri; great grandchildren: Tucker, Grace, and Libby Walters all of Kirkwood, Missouri and Jarrett and Carter Maynes of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. George Hooper officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
