Birthplace: Grant, Iowa Resided In: Villisca, Iowa Mary Elizabeth Chalmers, age 89, of Villisca, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Society. Mary was born April 19, 1926 in Grant, Iowa the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Wass) Lenz. She graduated from Grant High School in 1943 and started working for Brown Produce until her marriage to William Chalmers on February 22, 1947 in Grant, Iowa. Mary was a homemaker who was a hard worker and enjoyed being outdoors. She loved gardening and raising her chickens, ducks, and geese. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: William Chalmers on March 16, 2015; an infant son; brothers: Junior and Edward Lenz; sister-in-law: Mary Walden; brothers-in-law: David Chalmers, Eugene Parker, Dean Stafford, and Wally Walden; and nephews: Glenn Parker, Jim Parker and Floyd Stonehocker. Survivors include her son: Philip Chalmers and wife Dawn of Villisca, IA; grandchildren: Brian Champlin and wife Laura of Atlantic, IA and Corey Champlin and wife Tammy of Waukee, IA; great grandchildren: Nate and Tyler Mikkelsen and Kylee, Makenna, and Jayce Champlin; sisters-in-law: Anna Marie Parker of Griswold and Alice Stafford of Ft. Smith, AR; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside memorial services will be held 2 PM Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Grant, Iowa Cemetery with Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. There will be a time of lunch and fellowship at the Hayloft in Grant after the graveside service. Memorials are suggested to the Grant Volunteer Fire Department or the Grant United Methodist Women. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
