Obituary

Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Mary L. Burrington, age 76, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha after an extended illness. Mary Louise Burrington was born September 4, 1932 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of John and Frances (Wolfe) Confer. She was raised in the Red Oak area and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Tom Burrington in September of 1967. Two sons were born to this union: Patrick and Michael. They lived in Hastings, Iowa and Mary drove a school bus for Nishna Valley Schools for nearly 20 years and then worked for Botna Valley Grain in Malvern. Mary has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Care Center since 1995. Mary always enjoyed working around her house including yard work and gardening. She spent many hours canning all of the produce from her garden. She always took great interest in the activities her children were involved with at school. She loved all kids and many knew her as "Mom". She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Hubert Confer. Survivors include her sons: Patrick Burrington and wife Wendy of Pocatello, Idaho and Michael Burrington and wife Nikki of Rockmart, Georgia; granddaughter: Hailey Burrington of Rockmart, Georgia; sister: Ruth Gourley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother: Marion Confer and wife Connie of Torrington, Wyoming; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
