Birthplace: Goodland, Kansas Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Marlene Kay Mills, age 75, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society. Marlene was born January 17, 1939 in Goodland, Kansas the daughter of Floyd and Berniece (Wildman) Richardson. She graduated from Brewster, Kansas High School in 1957. She moved to Red Oak, Iowa where she married Dr. Ronald F. Mills on September 13, 1959. Marlene was a homemaker who enjoyed painting, sketching, and cooking. She also loved her Burmese kitties. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Dr. Ronald F. Mills; granddaughter: Wendy Rene Mills; sister: Marcia Pargman; and brother: Rodney Richardson. Survivors include her children: Julie Kae Mills of Breaux Bridge, LA; Joni Sue Syverson and friend Mark Kates of Red Oak; and Ronald Max Mills and wife Tabitha Sparks Mills of Littleton, CO; grandchildren: Dustin Mills of Breaux Bridge; Melissa Sue Mills of Red Oak; Rachel Lynn Gebhardt and husband Lee of Pleasant Hill, IA; Kody James Syverson of Red Oak; Abigail Jean Kates of Red Oak; and Sidney Sparks of Littleton, CO; 2 great grandchildren: Madeline Rae Mills of Red Oak and Garrett Lee Gebhardt of Pleasant Hill; sister: Pat England and husband Elmer of Clarinda; brother: Rolland Richardson and wife Janet of Clarinda; sisters-in-law: Jean Wagoner of Clarinda, Iowa and Pat Prather of Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. There will be a private family graveside memorial service on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery where Marlene will be laid to rest next to her husband of 55 years, Dr. Ronald F. Mills who passed away on May 10, 2014. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
