Birthplace: Essex, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Marjorie E. Almquist age 92 of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak. Marjorie Almquist was born August 17, 1912 at the family home at Essex, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Georgie (Moore) Bengtson. Marjorie graduated from Essex High School and on December 11, 1931 she was united in marriage to Vernon Almquist at the family home at Essex. Vernon and Marjorie lived on a farm south of Red Oak until moving to Red Oak in 1976. They enjoyed spending their winters in Texas. Marjorie was a homemaker and worked at Hunts Super Value. She was an active member of the First Covenant Church in Red Oak. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon on November 7, 1995; 2 grandsons, Dean Andersen and Michael Almquist; brother, Sam Bengtson; 2 sisters, Eleanora Woodin and Irene Moore and her son-in-law, Ron Taylor. Marjorie is survived by her son, Kenneth Almquist and wife Peggy of Mesa, Arizona; daughters, Susan Hiley and husband Russ of Loveland, Colorado and Jeannette Taylor of Red Oak, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, April 18, 2005 at the First Covenant Church in Red Oak with Rev. Alan Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8 PM Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials in Marjorie's memory are suggested in lieu of flowers. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
