Marion Dwayne Smith, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at Arlington Place. Marion was born June 17, 1934, the son of Marion and Rose (Kirk) Smith. He attended school and later served in the United States Army. Upon his completion of service, Marion started a 48-year career with Burlington Northern Railroad. He was united in marriage to Arlene Grim on April 18, 1959 in Viroqua, Wisconsin. They made their home for many years in Red Oak, Iowa. Arlene preceded him in death in 2000 and he then married Beverly Landon of Carter Lake, Iowa. They made Carter Lake their home. Beverly passed away in 2019 and Marion moved to Red Oak one year ago to live at Arlington Place. Marion always loved to tinker and work odd jobs. He was a good wood worker and loved to fish.
Preceding him in death were his parents; both wives; and siblings: Dale Smith and Eddie Smith. Survivors include his children: Rachel Norris and husband Jack of Tulsa, OK; Rlena Crouse of Red Oak, IA; and Robin Smith of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Mike, Michelle, and Mariah; many great grandchildren; brothers: Charles Smith of Omaha, NE and Don Smith and wife Edith of Carter Lake, IA; and other relatives and friends.
There will be a private family graveside memorial in honor of Marion at Evergreen Cemetery.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
