Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Boone, Iowa formerly Red Oak Marilee Mae Thomas, age 85, of Boone, Iowa, formerly Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa. Marilee was born January 23, 1929 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Hiram Lee and Marcia Bell (Romig) Williams. She graduated from Wales Lincoln High School in 1946 and was united in marriage to Victor "Vic" Thomas on February 21, 1948 near Wales, Iowa. She worked at Swanson Clothing, helped with the farming, drove a school bus for Stanton for 24 years and after retirement traveled with Mobile Missionary Assistance Program. She was a longtime active member of the Stanton Evangelical Covenant Church where she served as Choir Director for many years. Marilee and Victor were also foster parents throughout the years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and often organized the family reunions. Marilee was a seamstress and enjoyed tending to her garden and animals. Marilee and Vic moved to Boone in September of 2010 to be near their daughter Vicki. Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter: Marcia Hummel; 2 infant grandchildren: Aaron and Sarah Thomas; brothers: Donald, Wilbur, and Lloyd Williams; sisters: Kathleen Slump and Eloise Williams. Survivors include her husband: Victor Thomas of Boone; children: Benjamin (Janell) Thomas of Mt. Vernon, OH; Vicki (Rick) Gustafson of Ogden; and Andrew (Julie) Thomas of Bedford; son-in-law: Richard Hummel of Red Oak; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; foster son: Steve (Julie) Masters of Red Oak; brother: Joe (Jackie) Williams of Johnston; sisters-in-law: Darlene Williams of Red Oak; Lorraine Williams of Grant; and Joanne Glassinger of Red Oak; brother-in-law: Gordon (Janet) Thomas of Harlingen, TX; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton, Iowa. Burial will be in the Mission Covenant Cemetery near Stanton. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service at the church and a luncheon will be served following the burial. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
