Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Marianna Marie Johnson, age 89, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Accura Healthcare of Stanton, Iowa. Marianna was born December 25, 1928 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Nolan and Eva Belle (England) Howell. She was raised in Elliott graduating from Elliott High School in 1946. Marianna was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson on June 2, 1946 in Shenandoah, Iowa. They made their home in Essex, Iowa before moving to the Stennett area and eventually Red Oak. Marianna worked for Hunts Super Value and retired from Montgomery County National Bank after a 30 plus year career. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, member of the Montgomery County National Bank Retiree Club, and traveled many miles with Ray while he was involved with the Optimist Club. Marianna loved to cook and bake especially at the holiday time. She baked many goodies and delivered them to friends all over town. She also loved to send funny cards to people for all occasions. Her greatest joy came from her family. And we know now that she is in heaven with Ray dancing for eternity. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Raymond Johnson on June 28, 2017; and brother: Bill Howell. Survivors include her daughter: Diane Froehlich and husband Kirby of Spencer, IA; son: Dick Johnson and wife Ann of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Kim Kent and husband Adam of Panora, IA; Danee Zwerk and husband Scott of Red Oak, IA; Jennifer Beck and husband Matt of Boise, ID; Heather Huddle and husband Josh of Stanton, IA; and Brandi Blackman and husband Bret of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Haylie, Jackson, Ashlyn, Nolan, Brandon, Kaitlin, and Ella; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, October 5, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Ron Bupp officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Marianna Johnson Memorial Fund. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
