Birthplace: Stoutsville, MO Resided In: Red Oak, IA Margaret M. Skahill, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society. Margaret was born September 11, 1930 in Stoutsville, Missouri the daughter of William and Lillian (Crow) Ditmars. She was raised in southwest Iowa and graduated from the Farragut, Iowa High School. Margaret was united in marriage to James Henry Skahill on November 20, 1948. They made their home in Imogene, Iowa until moving to Red Oak, Iowa in 1963 where they raised their family. Margaret was a homemaker and in later years she worked at Sunshine-n-Rainbows Child Care Center. She was very active in St. Mary's Catholic Church where she coordinated and served many funeral luncheons over the years. Margaret enjoyed playing Golf and Bridge. She also spent many hours loving her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Jim Skahill in 1995; sisters: Wanda Miller and Rita Taylor; and a brother: Carl Ditmars. Survivors include her sons: Larry Skahill and wife Virginia of Bethlehem, PA; Vince Skahill of Red Oak; Joe Skahill and wife Shelly of Coin, IA; and Bix Skahill and wife Emily Stevens of St. Paul, MN; her daughters: Diane Stevenson and companion BH Kinder of Claremont, MO; Geri Wood and husband Mike of Emerson, Iowa; and Jean Mellott and husband Mark of Red Oak; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; brothers: William Henry "Hank" Ditmars and wife Charlotte and Edward Ditmars and wife Donna; sisters: Linda Bonnes, Kay Fensholt, and Beverly Trump; brother-in-law: Quentin Taylor; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Tom Kunnell, TOR as celebrant. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, May 30, 2014 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
